Rooibos Ltd hosts stands at expos in Taiwan and Japan to grow its global footprint

Taiwan Tea Industry Expo, Taichung (2-5 January 2015): KJN Partners Ltd, the representatives of Rooibos Ltd in Taiwan, attended the third Taiwan Industry Expo in Taichung to promote Rooibos in this market. The younger generation liked the Rooibos-based iced teas (especially Rooibos with passion fruit) while the others preferred the original Rooibos served as a hot beverage. See photographs.

Foodex, Japan (3-6 March 2015): The Rooibos Café at this trade show was a huge success. Says Clinton Gass, Managing Director of Rooibos Marketing Ltd: "Rooibos as a tea is now well established in Japan and widely available in teabag and ready-to-drink formats. This year, we showcased alternative applications of this trending product. The gourmet Rooibos ice-cream made by a famous Tokyo restaurant was the highlight at our exhibition while the Rooibos yoghurt, red espresso and green Rooibos products supplement also attracted a lot of interest. With the many new enquiries we received for our Rooibos extracts and powdered Rooibos, we are excited to see what new applications emerge over the next year." See photographs.

Tea company representatives from Germany, the USA and China visit Rooibos Ltd

Representatives from Germany's Teekanne GmbH & Co. KG:
On 4 March this year, Peter Hofmann, Cultivation Manager, and Julia Schmidt, Purchaser: Raw Materials, from the 125-year-old tea purveyor Teekanne GmbH & Co. KG in Germany visited Rooibos Ltd's factory and warehouses. They also visited Rooibos farms and drying yards to see how Rooibos is harvested. See photographs of their visit.

Representatives from the USA's DMH Ingredients:
Tom Hatch, Vice-President of the Illinois-based company DMH Ingredients, and Erin Carey-Reinholds, the company's Business Support & Development Manager, visited Rooibos Ltd from 16 to 20 April this year. DMH Ingredients represents Rooibos Ltd in the USA. The two representatives received training in various aspects of Rooibos, including the processes and products of Rooibos Ltd.

Representatives from China's Perfect Group:
In March this year, Rooibos Ltd was visited by China's Perfect Group, together with the Franschhoek Wine Valley's Special Envoy to Asia. Mr James Tan, and his assistant, Ms Evon Yep, Mr Woo Swee Lian (President) and his wife and daughter, as well as the Perfect Group General Manager, Mr Chris Lee, spent two days exploring the world of Rooibos and went home with a greater understanding of this unique product. Rooibos inspires preservative-free red wine

Audacia, a boutique winery near Stellenbosch, relies on the antioxidants in Rooibos and Honeybush to preserve its red wines and to eliminate the need to add sulfur dioxide and synthetic preservatives to its wines. Launching Rooibos drinks in Taiwan

KJN Partners Ltd, the representatives of Rooibos Ltd in Taiwan, launched a range of Rooibos products in Taiwan, namely Rooibos Original, Rooibos with Lemon Grass, Rooibos Latte, and Rooibos Iced Tea (passion fruit flavour). The retail chain Costco in Taiwan will also be promoting Rooibos iced tea during the summer months. Customers can taste the ready-to-drink Rooibos before buying it. See photographs.

Powdered Rooibos Latte becomes popular in Korea

TACO, a special brand of easy-to-use powdered drinks such as iced teas, lattes, chocolate and frappe mixes, has become popular in Korea. Rooibos Latte forms part of this trendy range of drinks.

Surmont International INC promotes Rooibos at expo in Taiwan

In November last year, Surmont International INC, a company in Taichung City, hosted a Rooibos stand at the Taiwan International Tea, Coffee & Wine Expo in Taipei. Gerda de Wet, Communication Manager at Rooibos Ltd, was also present to discuss the benefits and origin of South African Rooibos with existing and potential clients. See photographs.

SA scientist selected to study Rooibos compounds in Germany

In February this year, biochemist Dr Sithandiwe Mazibuko was picked as one of 10 candidates out of 121 applicants worldwide to do ground-breaking work at the esteemed Helmholtz Zentrum München facility in Germany. She was the only researcher selected from Africa. Sithandiwe left for Europe last month to study compounds in Rooibos to determine if it can enhance insulin resistance to treat type-2 diabetes and obesity.

To spread the word about Rooibos around the world, Rooibos Ltd will be taking part in the following international exhibitions: The World Tea Expo in Long Beach, USA (6-8 May 2015), Asia's leading food and beverage expo SIAL China in Shanghai, China (6-8 May 2015), and the Tea & Coffee World Cup Asia - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (10-12 June 2015).
