Feedback from the 30th Freshpak Fitness Festival

On 1 October this year, over 1 200 athletes flocked to Clanwilliam for the 30th annual Freshpak Fitness Festival supported by Rooibos Ltd. Various biathlon, duathlon and triathlon events, including special events for children, formed part of the programme. The athletes included professionals, local residents, and health and fitness fanatics. The main beneficiary of the event is CANSA.

Herman Kotze walks for CANSA to help the fight against cancer

Herman Kotze walked from Cape Town to Clanwilliam as part of the 30th Rooibos Ltd supported Freshpak Fitness Festival to raise money for CANSA. Having lost various family members to the disease, CANSA is a cause that lies close to Herman's heart.

Rooibos Ltd's Danny September retires

Danny September, affectionately known as Uncle Danny, is retiring after a career of 26 years at Rooibos Ltd. Prior to his retirement, he worked as Control Officer in the factory. He joined the company in 1990, mentioning his "good leadership abilities" and "strong motivation" on his application. He is also known for his support to staff members who find themselves in difficult situations. Says Gerda de Wet, Communication Manager at Rooibos Ltd: "We will miss his ability to organise and take responsibility for whatever the task at hand. We wish him everything of the best for this new phase of his life."

Rooibos IP innovation attracts international attention

Minister of Home Affairs Malusi Gigaba has delivered a keynote address at the World Intellectual Property Organisation in Switzerland after the trademarks and patents protecting Rooibos and Honeybush have caught the attention of the international community. The innovative use of Rooibos and Honeybush in skin care and health products and in wine making has led to technologies that help to ensure economic growth for developed and developing nations.
