Rooibos Experience: Bringing 40 Rooibos traders together under one roof
Cape Town tea lovers could get acquainted with Rooibos at the first-ever Rooibos Experience hosted at the Root 44 Market located at Audacia Wine Estate outside Stellenbosch on the weekend of 22 to 23 April this year. Here, visitors could taste and experiment with a wide range of Rooibos flavours in food and drink while being treated to Riel dancing by the award-winning Nuwe Graskoue Trappers from Wupperthal.
A large marquee tent housed the more than 40 specially selected Rooibos traders who showcased their products and services, which included designer Rooibos teas, food, cocktails and mocktails, boutique gin and skin care products.
Ernest du Toit, director of the SA Rooibos Council, said this was the first time that Rooibos showcased its product range in this manner: "The Rooibos Experience literally brought the industry together under one roof to promote the best of Rooibos's growing food, drink and beauty sectors." The SA Rooibos Council's association with the event reflects its commitment to encourage the exchange of ideas, helping to build connections among Rooibos producers, marketers and the community, open up opportunities and strengthen relationships, while celebrating the uniqueness of Rooibos.
