Rooibos Ltd's Producer of the Year says it is all about planning

Thorough planning, proper management and better training of workers. This, says Hannes van der Merwe from Rietvlei near Clanwilliam, is what it takes to achieve success in an environment characterised by high fuel costs, seasonal workers, severe drought and climate change. He is Rooibos Ltd's Producer for the Year 2017.

Why a bit of alcohol – including a Rooibos cocktail – is actually good for you

Did you know that moderate drinking can help to reduce your risk of Type-2 diabetes and that it can help you to live longer? Using Rooibos in cocktails is an "easy way to boost any cocktail" without adding kilojoules. Rooibos mixes well with vodka and gin in particular. It also contains antioxidants that help to protect against cancer, heart disease and even stroke.

Rooibos Ltd sponsors Clanwilliam Secondary School with jackets

Rooibos Ltd sponsored warm jackets for the first netball team and first rugby team of the Clanwilliam Secondary School. Said Mr Dann Snygans, vice-principal and sports organiser at the school: "It is the first time in the school's history that the teams have jackets."

In April, Rooibos Ltd supported the Hantam MTB Challenge at Brandkop, Nieuwoudtville. This event raises funds for the farm school Nieuwoudtville Akademie. Elizna Louw, vice-chairperson of the school, said, "We are proud of our association with Rooibos Ltd and we look forward to a long partnership between Rooibos Ltd and the Hantam MTB Challenge."

Marthinusrus Funduro gets support from Rooibos Ltd

In May, Rooibos Ltd supported the first Marthinusrus Funduro mountain bike and quad bike challenge with gazebos and Rooibos iced tea. Ferdi Visser, owner of the farm, said he dreamed of hosting this event for years and he thanked Rooibos Ltd for its support. The participants were impressed by the scenic beauty of the route.

Rooibos Ltd sponsors posters for Cederberg Municipality

Rooibos Ltd sponsored posters depicting Clanwilliam and the Cederberg area to decorate the entrance hall of the Clanwilliam municipal offices. The aim is to give visitors to the offices a true Clanwilliam and Cederberg experience. Mayor Jimmy Barnard received the donation with great gratitude from Gerda de Wet, Communication Manager at Rooibos Ltd.

Rooibos enters five teams in Clanwilliam Business Bowls Competition

Rooibos Ltd entered five teams in the Winter "Rol & Jol" Clanwilliam Business Bowls Competition. This community bowls tournament is about "focus, friendship and fun". The first and second places in the competition were taken by Rooibos Ltd teams.

Rooibos-infused gin form part of World Gin Day celebrations

Three proudly South African gins were singled out to celebrate #WorldGinDay on 9 June this year. This included Cape Town Rooibos Red Gin which has "the distinctive Rooibos taste that we all know and love but it's also a sweet, nutty gin". This gin was voted the best South African Gin in the Contemporary category at the 2017 World Drinks Awards.

In this article featured on the Polish website InfoWire, German tea company Teekanne tells the story of Rooibos with its "mild taste and honey notes". It explains that Rooibos only grows in the Cederberg region of South Africa, and that this soothing, caffeine-free drink comes with various health benefits.

The Japanese cosmetics range Eniron has launched moisturisers formulated with polyphenol-rich green Rooibos leaf extract and honey bush leaf extract for a healthy, moisturised skin.
