Why we are paying more for Rooibos in 2014
At the end of last year, Rooibos Ltd announced that the producer price of Rooibos will increase by an average of 15% as from January 2014. According to Rooibos Ltd’s Managing Director Martin Bergh, the growing worldwide demand for Rooibos can be attributed to increased awareness of the benefits of Rooibos. This demand also comes from Southern Africa where retailers such as Shoprite and Pick n Pay are opening new shops, stocking South African brands such as Freshpak and Laager.
