Clanwilliam hosts Arts and Lantern Festival

In September this year, Clanwilliam hosted its 14th annual Arts Festival and Lantern Festival – again with Rooibos Ltd as a co-sponsor. The project included a week of workshops in art, drama, drumming, music, dance and lantern making attended by over 600 school children.

Using a lantern parade, puppets and storytelling, the event culminated in the Lantern Festival on the Sunday evening, attended by over 3 000 people. A total of 700 children took part in the parade, which included stunning visuals displays of lanterns. This year, the project was made possible by 40 facilitators from the University of Cape Town’s Drama School, UCT Music School, UCT Michaelis School of Art, Clanwilliam's COMNET, Magnet Theatre trainees, the Steve Biko Foundation, other independents and the Magnet Theatre management team.

The Magnet Theatre also thanked Rooibos Ltd for its support in enabling the Clanwilliam Arts Project to complete its 14th year.
