The annual Freshpak Fitness Festival and its spin-off events – a marshal workshop and Cancer Awareness Day – continue to build brand awareness for Rooibos, Rooibos Ltd and the Clanwilliam community. New products from as far afield as China, Israel and Singapore are also spreading the Rooibos message. New teas combine Rooibos with interesting ingredients like turmeric, black pepper, ginger and nutmeg. 32nd Freshpak Fitness Festival celebrates sport, health and Rooibos

Nicholas Quenet from Stellenbosch University won the men's triathlon in the 32nd Freshpak Fitness Festival on 29 September. This popular multi-sport event included open-water swimming, a duathlon, biathlon and triathlon where participants competed individually or as part of a team. Younger kids competed in the FitKids Challenge and Run for Fun. Athletes and spectators were rewarded with a dam that was 100% full after the drought.

Rooibos Ltd hosts CANSA Community Day in Clanwilliam

On 12 September, Rooibos Ltd once again joined forces with CANSA to host a Cancer Awareness Day for the community of Clanwilliam. The health services offered to the community included mole screenings, cancer lifestyle risk analyses, smokerliser tests and a Shavathon.

Rooibos Ltd's free marshal workshop helps to create jobs

Just before the 2018 Freshpak Fitness Festival, Rooibos Ltd again offered a one-day marshal workshop for community members from Clanwilliam. Says Gerda de Wet, Rooibos Ltd's Communication Manager and organiser of the Freshpak Fitness Festival, "Various work streams are required to organise an event that is experienced as smooth-running, safe, enjoyable and efficient. These marshals are part of the public face of the event. An investment in them is an investment in the event and, ultimately, the community of Clanwilliam."

Coco Safar – enjoy your Rooibos in an elegant setting

Coco Safar, the café and coffee capsule company in Sea Point, Cape Town, offers a luxury experience when it comes to coffee and Rooibos. Rooibos is usually steeped in hot water to produce a tea-like beverage. But at Coco Safar, it is served as a capsule. Coco Safar also houses the world's first botanical Rooibos brewery. "The Rooibos tea is brewed for 76 hours. Our tonics are infused with Rooibos and we serve it on tap like beer. You can sit by the bar and watch the brewery doing the brews," says Wilhelm Liebenberg, co-founder of Coco Safar.

The craft gin market is alive and well in South Africa. Take Sugarbird Cape Fynbos Gin as an example. The recent drought almost meant the end of bowling in Clanwilliam. But thanks to good rains and support from Rooibos Ltd, the Rooibos Ltd Trips Open Day could be hosted on 22 September. Twelve teams participated, including two teams from Rooibos Ltd – the Eliminators and the Pro-Balls.

The Uniting Reformed Church's Youth Group (VGK Jeug), led by Mr Joppie Amon, received jackets from Rooibos Ltd to "give the group a uniform look and a sense of belonging". The bright green jackets are branded with the logos of the church and Rooibos Ltd.
